Got questions?

I don't live in Victoria, can I purchase your products?

Yes! We offer Canada-wide shipping. Shipping cost is an additional fee that will be calculated and added to your order at checkout.

How do I pick up my items locally?

Thanks for shopping local! Please make sure to select "local pick up" when checking out so that you don't get charged for shipping. You will receive an email when your order is ready to be picked up.

What is a snuffle mat?

Snuffle mats are enrichment toys for pets that feature tons of fleece strips attached to a sturdy mat. Your dog (or cat, chicken, ferret etc..) can use their senses to hunt for their food in a way that is mentally stimulating and fulfills their natural instincts. Hide high value treats- or even their regular kibble- in amongst the fleece, and let the hunting begin!

What's with the 8' leashes? Isn't 6' the standard length for a short leash?

While we do sell 6' leashes, we aren't sure who decided that a standard dog leash has to be 6 feet! It's just a bit too short for our tastes. There are certainly uses for all kinds of lengths, but our ethos is about freedom and choice for the animals, and that's the niche we are trying to fill! By making leashes that are just a little bit longer, we are allowing dogs to sniff more, move more, and have more agency in their lives. Plus, it often leads to less pulling on both ends, and happier dogs (and owners!). If you want a 6 foot leash we also stock those, and have a custom leash option for any other length you might need. Visit our "custom leash" product page to customize a product to suit your needs.

What do you use a 15' leash for?

A lot of stuff! Personally, I walk my dogs on 15' leashes anytime I take them out separately or with my partner. They aren't ideal for handling two dogs at once (talk about a tangled mess), but for a single dog sniff adventure you can't beat a 15 footer. Perfect for hiking, camping, beach adventures, or enriching sniff walks in quiet residential neighbourhoords!

Where do you get your climbing rope?

Right now we are partnered with two awesome climbing gyms on the West Coast; The Richmond Oval Climbing Gym, and Crag X climbing centre! They retire their ropes when they no longer pass stringent safety inspections for use as life saving safety equipment, but they are still plenty tough for your 100 pound hunk (or 20 pound dumpling), so have no fear! We source only parts of the rope that are sturdy and have a great feel, and we clean and inspect them for flaws thoroughly. There may be some cosmetic quirks, but hey, your dog won't mind!

What is your return policy?

If you are unhappy with your product, it wasn't what you were expecting, or it broke and you need a replacement, please get in touch with us via our contact form or by email at info@gooddoggoods.ca. We process returns/exchanges/credit on a case by case basis.

How do I successfully use my 15' long line?

We have some videos on our instagram page that might help you with your long line handling skills, or you can book an in person or virtual session with me (Danika - I'm a trainer!) and I'd be happy to show you some long line handling skills! You don't have to give your dog the whole 15 feet of freedom at all times, especially around traffic or in busy areas. We suggest stopping (gently) when your dog hits the end of the leash or is headed in a direction you don't want. Try not to keep walking with tension on the line! Call them back to you, or wait for them to stop fully so you can give some slack in the leash, and then keep walking! And don't forget to reward your dog for checking in with you every once in awhile :)

Do you give back to the community?

We do! We love donating leashes and long lines to local rescues whenever they don't quite fit our quality criteria to sell!

Why are your 3'-8' lengths all the same price?

This is our subtle way of encouraging our customers to opt for trying a longer leash!

I have some old climbing ropes I'd like to give a second life to! How should I proceed?

That's awesome! We will gladly trade you a 6' or 8' leash for your ropes (we just have to check that they are in a usable condition for our purposes before accepting any used climbing ropes), and if you don't have need for a leash right now, we can donate one to a local dog rescue!
