The Story

Welcome to Good Dog Goods. We are a small business devoted to sustainability, based out of Victoria BC, and we make all of our products ourselves! My name is Danika, and in addition to being a full time dog trainer I am one of the founders of Good Dog Goods, along with my partner Will. Our staff also consists of two rescue dogs - Ulu and Potato - who are in charge of product testing (mainly chewing things)  and one cheeky cat named Neko (who if we're being honest pretty much just rolls in the ropes). My partner Will is a sommelier (wine guy) and he's new to the world of dogs, but he enthusiastically jumped on board to help me make and design products. Now we both come up with ideas, make all our products by hand in our living room, and have steadily grown our little project into a business that makes us super happy. We like the idea of keeping used ropes out of the landfill, sourcing used fabric for our snuffle mats, and continuing to think up new ways to reduce waste and set our dogs, and yours, up to succeed. Thanks for supporting us in our mission to make good goods, for good dogs.

Doing things a bit differently

I got fed up with walking my dog on a six foot leash that didn't fulfil her natural needs to sniff, move, and explore her surroundings. Plus, I was working with clients whose dogs were stressed, anxious, fearful, reactive, frustrated and over-aroused. Clearly the status quo wasn't working for them. It turns out that a lot of our dogs instinctive needs are going unmet in our modern world. Like us, dogs require choice, freedom, and outlets for their natural instincts. I wanted to create products for my clients and their dogs that would help them thrive, and bring them some much needed relief from their stressors. I reached out to some local climbing gyms to source their used ropes, and the Good Dog Goods 15' long line was born! That was our first product, and from there we expanded our offerings to include other leash lengths, extenders, and toys!
